Planes, Manes and Bad Decisions

The key to my nothing-like-home away from home is already in the lock, when the phone rings.

“Mmm?” I manage, squishing my phone between shoulder and face, three bags in two hands, hat unnecessarily on head, and a piece of toast wedged into the corner of my mouth.

“Hey you!” yells Stephen, offensively happy for four o’clock in the morning.

“Shhh,” I splutter, having just choked on the toast in fright.

“Happy Anniversary, wife!” he shouts.

“I’m not your wife,” I say, piling one suitcase onto the other and holding the phone a little further away from my ear.

“We’re going horse riding,” Stephen announces, clearly delighted by his own sense of exquisite romance.

“I don’t want to go horse riding.”

“On Table Mountain,” he continues. “You’ll love it.”

“No I won’t.”

“It’ll be very romantic.”

“No it won’t.”

Table Mountain: a Practical Guide

You know how some tourist attractions and Natural Wonders are completely overrated and just a little disappointing? This one is worth every minute and every penny. If you’re in Cape Town, near Cape Town, or have enough money in your savings account to go to Cape Town, Table Mountain really isn’t a question.

Pack some sun cream, a hat and a camera, and you can send me a thank-you postcard from the only slightly overpriced Shop at the Top. Go.

The Cape of Good Hope, Good Food, Good Wine

It you’ve heard that Cape Town, South Africa is one of the most beautiful parts of the country to explore, you’ve heard right. There’s good reason for the thousand of tourists that flock here every year.

From the incredible mountain ranges down to the sparkling coast, whatever you’re into, the Mother City can offer.

Now, if you’ve ever seen a postcard of South Africa, or watched the movie Invictus, you know that Table Mountain is your priority. If you do nothing else, do that.
